VOLUNTEERS who are employees of Sky were praised by the town’s mayor after their excellent work volunteering in the town.

It comes after the team did an excellent job in undertaking some needed and essential maintenance of the town’s Memorial Hall.

All employees of Sky are given two dedicated volunteering days each year through its company-wide Sky Cares program, which was launched in 2019 as part of efforts to connect the company’s staff with their local communities.

As part of the Sky Cares initiative, teams participate in hands-on community service, such as environmental conservation, beach and river cleans with groups like the Marine Conservation Society, gardening and property upkeep for charities, digital skills mentoring, and elderly isolation outreach.

Since its launch, the program has seen thousands of employees log hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours across multiple countries.

The mayor, in his capacity as one of the trustees that are responsible for looking after the Holsworthy Memorial Hall took the time to greet the employees from Sky, who had come to the town for the day to assist with the maintenance of the hall.

He praised the group as a ‘great bunch of guys’ who have made a significant difference to the Holsworthy Memorial Hall in their day’s volunteering.

The mayor added that the hall was now looking ‘a bit more loved’.

Cllr Jon Hutchings, mayor of Holsworthy said: “With my Memorial trustees hat on i was privileged to welcome and work with 10 North Devon Sky engineers who came to Holsworthy to lend a hand with a corporate volunteering day.

“A great bunch of guys who helped with some greatly needed general maintenance around the Memorial Hall. What a difference they have made. A huge thank you for all your efforts. Our hall is now looking a bit more loved.”
