THE Co-op in Camelford recently dressed up in red and got baking for their recent cake sale to raise funds for the charity, the British Red Cross.
Delicious cakes were made by members of staff and the community, and were sold in the Co-op store at the weekend, helping to contribute to the national Big Red Weekend event, which has seen hundreds of Co-op stores across the country take part to raise money for their chosen charity, the British Red Cross.
As well as the cake sale, there was also a raffle, which helped towards the store’s overall fundraising total of £200.
Nick Park, the manager at Co-op Camelford, said: “It went really well. I’m not sure how much the cakes were priced at individually, but we raised around £200. It was a great community event.”
The Co-op in Launceston also took part in the Big Red Weekend.
Co-op Launceston on Broad Street, in the town centre, the staff — dressed in red — held a raffle and book-stall to contribute to their fundraising and make an impact on the charity, raising over £300 for the cause.
Overall, Co-op aims to raise £3-million.
Andy Baker, the team manager of Co-op Launceston in Broad Street, said: “It went really, really well. We’ve still got a hamper and raffle tickets up for sale, and the book-stall did very well.
“The public was really generous, and we managed to raise over £300. Overall, the event was a big success.”
