‘BE Safe, Be Seen’ — that’s the message being promoted by Maddaford Funeral Service, Launceston’s Co-op Funeralcare Home.
Over the past few years, Maddaford’s has successfully worked with local primary schools in a simple activity designed to keep children safe at this time of year — donating reflective badges to local youngsters in the area to help ensure their safety going to and returning from school.
This year, the yellow high-visibility reflective pin-badges will be given to more than 1,500 children at primary schools in and around Launceston.
Mandy Atherton, funeral director at Maddaford Funeral Service, said: “With the clocks going back, darker mornings and evenings mean youngsters need to take even more care on their way to and from school.
“To help keep children safe and to raise awareness of the importance of road safety we are proud to be supporting local primary schools by donating our reflective badges. We are delighted to be extending this to twelve schools this year — but if any other groups or schools out there would like to be involved, please get in touch.”
Mandy recently visited pupils at South Petherwin Primary School and handed out reflective badges.
