Residents at Kernow House care home, in Launceston recently enjoyed receiving letters and cards from the local community.

Residents at the home enjoyed reading the lovely messages and poems and it meant such a lot as visitors are currently not able to visit the home at this time.

There were drawings, photographs and even jokes and they were shared out on all units in the home, so everyone benefitted.

Jo Coombs, deputy manager at Kernow House Care Home said: “In these unprecedented times, ensuring residents feel engaged and connected within our local community is more important than ever.

“Our residents really enjoyed all the wonderful cards, which are now displayed on walls and windows so they can be read many times. We provide a wide range of physical, mental and spiritual activities at Kernow House as part of the life enrichment programme for residents, and sharing the lovely messages was very popular!

“We have also adapted ways to keep residents active, whilst ensuring that the group activities are smaller, adhering to social distancing advice”

Peter, a resident at the home was able to enjoy reading memories from previous school visits from children in St Catherine’s Primary School in Launceston.

Peter said: “It’s so lovely that we can still have contact with the children through these letters and drawings. Hearing all about their days makes mine.”

Jo added: “We are playing our part in the wider care sector and supporting the NHS where possible. We are currently still taking admissions into our care home for those that need care in the next four weeks, so please do give us a call on 01566 777841 if you are looking for care or need any further help.”
