THE Child of Courage winner at Pirate FM's recent Local Hero Awards was 12-year-old Josie Whale from Launceston. She not only lives with the most severe form of asthma, but using her strength of character and her love of music, Josie overcomes the daily challenges to really live her life to the full. Her mum Tara said: "Watching her stop breathing was horrendous – something I wouldn't wish on anyone with any age child. But watching her persevere and get on with it is brilliant."
