A BEAUTY therapist from Bude held a charity pamper day at the Parkhouse Centre.
Marie Covachich invited members of the public along to the Parkhouse Centre on January 26 to revel in a series of pamper sessions, including massages, reflexology, crystal and spiritual healing, tarot card readings, as well as the sale of jewellery, soaps and luxury toiletries, makeup and more. Marie could be found giving customers’ hands a bit of a sparkle during the grey day as she offered gel nails as part of her business, Beauty for You by Marie.
Money raised was for Macmillan Cancer Support, and £150 was made on the day.
Marie said: “The footfall wasn’t brilliant because of the weather — January is a funny month anyway because it’s just after Christmas. But then we had a good footfall in some ways because we managed to raise £150.”
Marie chose to support Macmillan Cancer Support after having experienced the disease in her personal life.
She said: “Lots of family members have been affected by cancer, and we recently discovered my friend had just weeks left.
“I wanted to do something to help. I looked at it to raise £150. One nurse costs £24.90 for an hour of their time, so I’ve looked at it that I’ve managed to give five hours of time to someone who needs it.”
Marie is hoping to hold another pamper day at the end of July, also in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
