A CALL for more young families to join the Launceston and District Twinning Association has been made by the group's chairman, Mike Macoun.
Speaking at a celebration dinner in the new cultural centre at Plestin les Grèves — Launceston's twin town in Brittany — Mr Macoun said that twinning was a perfect way to make new friends and experience life in another country.
He recalled that his family had made their first visit to Plestin when their two children were small. "We didn't know what to expect, but we stayed with a Plestin couple who also had two young children. Over the years, our friendship has grown and now, 24 years later, we are like one big family.
"The exciting thing about twinning is that there many other families like ours who have developed close ties with families in Plestin."
