A FLORIST from Launceston has won second place at a national awards ceremony.

Donna Cornish of Flowers by Donna, whose shop is based on Westgate Street in Launceston, was awarded second place at the British Florist Association (BFA) Industry Awards’ gala dinner ceremony, held recently. Donna reached the top ten in the ‘Retail Shop of the Year’ category, and achieved second place at the awards ceremony. She was nominated for the award in July, and had to ask for people’s support and votes until mid-September.

Donna was beaten to first place by a Scottish florist, but is ‘delighted’ with the result. She said: “I’ve been delighted by the support of my wonderful customers. We have a great community here in Launceston and I’d like to thank them for all their support. It’s lovely how a small community here like ours can pull together to compete in national awards against larger towns and cities.”
