A COMPETITION is underway in a bid to help small businesses in Launceston, with the lucky winner set to receive two weeks’ use of a business unit for free.

The people behind the Market House Arcade in Launceston said they want to ‘help local businesses’ — with the Facebook competition set to run until Friday.

A winner will be chosen at random on Friday, March 10 — the competition and how to enter can be viewed on the ‘Market House Arcade’ Facebook page.

Local social media consultant Anna Mitchell is among the team behind promoting Market House Arcade, which includes Catherine Sleep and Joanne Davy.

Anna told the Post: “We are getting new initiatives down there to help businesses in Launceston. We are giving away free two-week use of one of the units. This is an amazing opportunity for a business to launch itself — we just really want to shout about it. They will be able to fill in forms for business rate relief and get that free aswell.

“Everyone says Launceston is struggling — it’s just about creating new ideas. Our emphasis is to try and help people, get them started.”

The arcade will also be home this weekend to the first ‘Mums in Business Market’. The concept of the market is to support and celebrate mothers who run their own businesses in Launceston and the local area.

The pop up market will take place at the Market House Arcade on Saturday, March 11 from 10am to 2pm. There will also be a special performance by McQueen’s Theatre School, run by Mum in Business, Rachel Olés.
