CORNISH food company, Samworth Brothers, owners of the Ginsters brand, is supporting a Cornish sporting hopeful in its newly launched 'Samworth Sporting Stars' initiative.
Izzy Hamilton, a world champion windsurfer from Bude, is one of the new 'Samworth Sporting Stars' and to mark the launch of the programme she recently visited Samworth Brothers' sites across the county.
The 'Samworth Sporting Stars' are a group of young, talented sportspeople from Cornwall and the East Midlands hoping to paddle, surf, and leap into the medals at the next Summer Games, plus other World and European Championships along the way.
Lindsey Pownall, group director at Samworth Brothers, said: "We felt this was an exciting and appropriate time to get behind talented local sportspeople identified as having medal winning potential. We will be supporting them with funds raised from last year's highly successful Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge.
"We were really keen to continue the strong links generated from the sporting activities of the Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge which highlighted how many of our employees are interested in sport and are looking forward to London 2012 and other sporting milestones.
Eighteen-year-old Izzy is the current RS:X Class Youth Worlds Champion and hopes to compete in the RS:X event in Portsmouth during the London Games.
