THE members of Granville Masonic Lodge got their Christmas celebrations off to an early start with a Sunday lunch on December 11 at The Masonic Hall in Bude.

More than 40 people, made up of members, friends and family, enjoyed a traditional Christmas lunch of turkey and all the trimmings, followed by Christmas pudding.

Members of the lodge acted as waiters and the meal was accompanied by plenty of old favourite seasonal songs and music.

A raffle raised a total of £165 in aid of Cancer Research UK.

A cheque was presented to Ray Shaddick, the chairman of the Bude, Stratton and District Cancer Research UK Committee and member of the lodge by the secretary Keith Taylor. Ray, on behalf of all present, thanked everyone concerned with the organisation of the event and the generous donation. He also pointed out that Masonic charitable work in general and that by Granville Lodge in particular covers a wide range of charities and organisations with funds often being distributed locally. He wished everyone a happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.
