The celebrations began at Bude Castle where visitors enjoyed a varied programme of activities in support of the charity's work with young people across North Cornwall and North Devon.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the presentation of the Jill Wellby Award for Musical Achievement, by Cllr Katie Aulsberry-Vockins, deputy mayor of Bude. The award, established in memory of the late Jill Wellby, recognises and celebrates the achievements of talented young musicians from across the area.
Music was at the heart of the celebrations, with performances during the afternoon followed by a wonderful evening concert by Bude Choral Society at Bude Methodist Church.
Commenting on the milestone, Dr Alan Whittle, chair of SWSW, said: “Our 25th Anniversary celebration was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything SWSW has achieved over the past twenty-five years. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped organise the day, supported the event, donated prizes, ran stalls, performed, volunteered or simply came along to join us. Your support will help us continue providing music therapy, school workshops, instrument loans and many other musical opportunities for children and young people across North Cornwall and North Devon.”
A spokesperson from the charity added: “As SWSW celebrates this important milestone, the charity looks forward to continuing its work of enriching the lives of children and young people through the power of music for many years to come.”
