BUDE campaigners have temporarily won some changes to the out of hours GP service which was switched by Serco Healthcare from Stratton to Launceston on December 1 last year.

For a trial period of three months, two new clinics are to be started in Bude/Stratton district on Saturday and Sunday mornings. This will start "within the next month."

In addition, a car will also be based at Stratton Community Hospital.

The decision follows the public meeting attended by more than 400 residents of the district — reported in last week's 'Post' — and a subsequent meeting involving Serco, the primary Care Trust, and local councillors.

The switch of the night-time and weekend GP out of hours service to Launceston — 22 miles away — had roused deep concerns among residents of the Bude district.
