THE Launceston Community Market has helped supported the local food bank’s latest project for children at Christmas.

Bags of Love was set up to make Christmas a little better for local needy and underprivileged families in the Launceston and surrounding area.

The aim is to collect items and money to buy toys and activities for Christmas presents which are put in bags and delivered to people receiving food parcels from Love Your Neighbour.

Love Your Neighbour is a national initiative, the Launceston branch being driven by Mike and Val Carpenter, with their dedicated helpers, delivering to up to 70 families and individuals in and around the town.

A spokesperson added: “It is hoped that these gifts will make Christmas a little happier and that those receiving them will feel that somebody does care about them.”

The Launceston Community Market meets every Friday morning at Central Methodist and all the money raised goes to local charities and good causes. They are very happy to have raised £200 to help Bags of Love again this year and always welcome suggestions for the next good cause.
