A?NUMBER of presentations were made at the annual dinner of the Delabole branch of the Royal British Legion.
The event was held at the Poldark Inn, Delabole last Friday evening, and was well supported by members.
Branch president, Geoff Cleave, presented special poppy medals to three Delabole ladies — Rose Meakin, Pat Hall and Yvonne Edwards — in recognition of over 30 years collecting for the Poppy Appeal.
A certificate of appreciation was also given to Brenda Burnard to thank her for the contribution she makes to the branch.
Every year, Brenda puts together a wonderful window display at the village charity shop, depicting the effort made by men and women of Delabole during the wars.
She also arranges the branch’s floral displays at the annual flower festival.
Mr Cleave said: “I was honoured to be able to present these awards and certificate to four worthy recipients.
“All these ladies help the branch tremendously and I thank them for that. Their support is invaluable.”
During the evening, more volunteers stepped forward to help with this year’s poppy collection, which will start shortly.
Mr Cleave added: “The door-to-door poppy collection will be taking place soon in the village, so I would like to ask everybody to give as much as they can.”
Anyone who would like to get involved with the branch is asked to contact secretary Patricia Molloy on 01840 212529.
