ANOTHER successful community lunch at Launceston has prompted town councillors to nominate a fellow member for an award of appreciation.
The community lunch was attended by almost 200 people on Tuesday, December 15.
At a meeting of the town council on that evening, Cllr Dave Gordon expressed his thanks to Cllr Margaret Young — Cllr Paul O’Brien said without her, the community lunch would not happen.
He added: “I think she should be given an award of appreciation,” and his proposal was seconded by Cllr John Conway.
Cllr Young said: “I don’t need any of that, it’s just such a pleasure.”
The town council expressed its thanks to the Rotary Club of Launceston, Philip Warren Butchers, Tesco, Dunn’s Dairy, Tulip Factory (Bodmin), Penpont Brewery and Smiley Happy People for their support and donations for the community lunch.
An award of appreciation will also be awarded to Miss Vera Ellacott, the town council’s finance and general purposes committee agreed at its recent meeting.
