ENROL in Trega’s School for Witches and Wizards in former Launceston resident and author S G Harvey’s debut children’s fantasy novel.

‘The Wand Tree: Book of Magic’ is a spellbinding children’s fantasy novel about young Joe Silva who struggles to fit in at boarding school.

Joe is sent to boarding school after his mother disappears. Not only is he bullied and picked on at school, his father blames him for his mother’s disappearance and does not support him.

After living alone at boarding school for years, Joe is surprised to learn that he has secured a place at Trega’s School for Witches and Wizards. As Joe discovers more about himself, he builds bonds with the other wizards that are struggling to fit in and together they battle against the prejudices that surround them.

Writer S G Harvey lived in Launceston for most of his life before recently moving to Torrington. The book weaves through strong themes of friendship, self-belief and self-development to give the genre a more personal twist by focusing closely on the characters’ personal developments.

Harvey agrees that it is a very special book, which was inspired by spending time at his grandfather’s farm as a child, which he said ‘was a very magical place’.
