EMERGENCY Services have issued a warning to motorists this week following a number of incidents on the weekend which were a result of the icy road conditions.

Bude Community Fire Station urged motorists in the area to take care on the roads on Saturday, January 18, having been called to a road traffic collision near Homeleigh Garden Centre, Bude.

Two crews from Bude assisted at the incident while the road was temporarily closed before being reopened later that morning.

The same morning, two crews from Bude attended their second shout of the day, to a road traffic collision involving a tanker on its side near Hallworthy. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the crews were able to assist with scene safety before returning to the station.

But this was not to be the last of Bude Community Fire Station’s call-outs that weekend, as one appliance with five firefighters attended another single vehicle road traffic collision on Sunday afternoon.

The car was on its side along the A39 at Otterham Station. The occupant of the car was not trapped and was treated in an ambulance by paramedics. The crew made the vehicle safe before returning to the station.
