ARMED police were called to Launceston yesterday following an incident with a potential weapon.

Police were called to the Lidl car park on Hurdon Road, Launceston at 5.30pm yesterday (September 8) following reports of an incident.

It was reported that an altercation had occurred and a man was in possession of a bladed article.

Following the call, armed officers attended the scene and located those involved.

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police explained: “A 60-year-old man from Tavistock was arrested on suspicion of affray, dangerous driving and possessing a knife in a public place.”

Following his arrest, the man remains in police custody.
