VICTORY over Forest Exiles in the latest round of the Verderers Cup midweek T20 league kept Lydney top of the table.

The home side batted first through openers Jordan Stone and Adie Knox. Lydney reached 37 before Stone was bowled by Ben Howells.

Jack O'Connell came to the crease and scored more than a run a ball before being bowled by Reuben Elliott for 39 off just 26 balls.

Adie Knox reached his half century off 47 balls while Grant Keddle made 10 off 12 balls before being run out.

It was left to Knox and skipper Ed Jones to see the innings to its conclusion, both unbeaten, with Knox finishing on 68 off 58 balls and Jones three.

Lydney made 152-3 off 20 overs with Ben Howells taking one for 24 and Reuben Elliott 1-31.

Colin Legge and Neil Wyman opened for the Exiles and were up with the run rate, reaching 53-0 off seven overs.

The breakthrough came when Ed Jones trapped Legge LBW for 23 and the run rate dropped.

Connor Brackpool was out for four bowled by Ed Jones and Jack Knox had Wyman stumped for 28.

Jones began rotating his bowlers with only Jack Knox picking up another wicket.

Ross Keddle with 12 and Jack Worgan on 13 batted through to finish on 100-4 off 20 overs, victory for Lydney by 52 runs.

Knox finished on 2-13 and Jones 2-15.
