North Cornwall Table Tennis League 2018/19 latest round-up

BUDEHAVEN A, North Hill A and Torridge all advanced in the Division One Knockout Cup on Thursday, December 20.

All ties are played as doubles contests with the aim of being the first team to get to five.

Budehaven A, despite being pushed hard by Crackington A ended up winning 5-1.

North Hill A had no such trouble across the hall as they eased past Budehaven B 6-0 before both teams decided to call it a day.

Such was their dominance, they only dropped an end in the sixth game, which did not matter.

It was a similar story at Crackington as Torridge beat Crackington B 8-1.

Torridge won seven of the nine matches 3-0 and the other 3-1.

However Ross Paynter and Robin Evans did win the seventh match 3-0 to avoid the whitewash.

There were no other ties played on the evening ahead of the Christmas break.

The league resumes tonight with a rescheduled game in each division.

In Division One, Crackington B will look to pick up some points to give themselves a fighting chance of avoiding the wooden spoon when they host Whitstone Wanderers while Division Two leaders Budehaven D take on challengers Budehaven C in a match which could see the D team give themselves an comfortable lead in the title race.

There is also another match at Budehaven as the F team take on the G team in the third-tier.

The full league programme restarts next Thursday (January 10) with ten matches scheduled across the three divisions.
