The weather was glorious and the famous parkland championship course with its 300-year-old oak and chestnut trees was in pristine overall condition.
First out were St. Pierre captain Mike Smith and his partner Wendy de Godfrey against Tenby's skipper Richard Ormond and his wife Georgina. Poor putting was the visitors' downfall and they succumbed three and two.
Alan and Moyanne Monday, who is lady captain at St. Pierre and helped to instigate the fixture, had a great tussle with Tenby's Idwal David and Sarah Waring, the match ending in an honourable half.
St. Pierre's Phil and Ann Richards found the form of David Morgan and Laura McQueen too much to handle and went down three and two.
Tenby also won the next game, with Allan Morton and Trevayne Keohane beating Paul and Cheryl Stickler by four and three.
The home side then levelled matters when Keith and Alice Fuller beat Fair and John Ball by four and two. However, Tenby's Neil Evans and Nicky Burks dug deep to defeat Paul Hickman and Sarah Hughes on the last green by the narrowest of margins, one up.
This meant that Tenby were one game ahead with two still out on the course. Unfortunately, both the Tenby pairs were defeated. Keith and Anna Hubbard lost by five and four to Adrian and Jane Webb and Mervyn Tucker and Heather Morgan found Graham Smith and Sue Coombe too strong on the day and lost three and two.
Consequently, the match finished 4.5 to 3.5 in St. Pierre's favour.
Tenby are now looking forward to hosting the 2016 fixture with a view to claiming their first success.
The visitors received a very warm welcome from Mike Smith and his team.
The post-match meal was excellent. Without exception and despite the result, everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed the day.
