TWO Post area clubs hoping for a top-half finish meet at Holsworthy tomorrow as Camelford visit Upcott Field in SWPL Premier West (2.15pm).
Holsworthy’s first league outing since Boxing Day saw them surprisingly go down 2-1 at home to bottom side St Dennis, while the Camels’ weekend outing saw them snatch a late point against visiting Newquay.
When the two sides met at Trefrew Park earlier in the season, Camelford ran out 3-1 winners, but are, like a lot of sides, much better on home turf.
Holsworthy were in action less than 24 hours later last Sunday when they beat Shamwickshire Rovers 3-2 in the last eight of the Torridge Cup, and will hope to take that momentum into the game.
Bude Town had a day to forget last Saturday as they were thrashed 6-2 at strugglers Mullion, and the Seasiders have their work cut out once more when they visit Newquay.
The Peppermints rarely drop points at Mount Wise, while Ben Potter’s side have been far from their best on their travels.
Launceston have climbed away from trouble in recent weeks and impressed in a 3-1 defeat at title-chasing St Austell on Saturday.
This weekend’s assignment is a visit from St Dennis who are showing signs of life after bringing in some new players. With games in-hand on second bottom Sticker, the Boscawen Park club will be confident of making things tricky for the Clarets.
Callington have secured successive away victories at Newquay and Dobwalls in their most recent outings, and will hope to translate that to Ginsters Marshfield Pac when they entertain Truro City Reserves.
Truro are struggling for form, albeit have a decent cushion over the bottom two, but provide in-form Cally with an ideal chance to make it a hat-trick of wins.
The biggest match in the division so far this season takes place at Poltair Park on Saturday as the top two meet.
St Austell, second and a point behind leaders Liskeard, welcome the Blues in a game the hosts can ill-afford to lose.
If Liskeard leave with three points, they will be four points clear with a game in-hand, and considering they have dropped just four points all season, it would take a remarkable collapse.
When the two sides met at Lux Park, a thrilling contest ended in a 3-3 draw, a result both managers may take come 5pm on Saturday.
Elsewhere in the division, Mullion welcome Wadebridge Town, Dobwalls host Penzance, and Bodmin Town look to keep up their improvement when they head down to Wendron United.
2.15pm kick-offs: HOLSWORTHY v CAMELFORD, LAUNCESTON v St Dennis, Newquay v BUDE TOWN, Wendron United v Bodmin Town.
3pm kick-offs: CALLINGTON TOWN v Truro City Res, Dobwalls v Penzance, Mullion v Wadebridge Town, St Austell v Liskeard Athletic.
