Ross RFC 1st XV entertained the very experienced Lydney 3rds in the quarter final of the Forest Combination Cup and ran out winners by 31 points to nil.

Playing into the wind in the first half Ross kept the ball in hand, attacking the Lydney line only to be repelled. The visitors' experience and strength got them to the Ross end where they found a solid defence.

Lack of discipline saw Lydney reduced to 14 men and Ross took quick advantage. Full back AJ Jenkins took a quick penalty 10 metres out and fed flanker Chris Thomas who crashed over for a try. Craig Powell converted. Full report in this week's Gazette.
