INSPIRED by his heroes Sir Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and 18-year-old neighbour Sam Fanson, and in support of a very special charity, Bude youngster Samuel Jennings will cycle from John O'Groats to Land's End in August. The distance covered will total around 1,000 miles, set over 17 legs, and will require him to complete 65 miles per day. He will be accompanied by his dad Paul and grandad Martyn Vigg, who will be driving the support vehicle. Samuel, who only recently turned 12, has been training hard, with rides to South Devon, via Millook and Crackington Haven, under his belt. He now feels ready to take on the 'end to end' challenge. The cycle is being held in support of two causes — the Friends of Bude Sea Pool and Daniel's Heroes, a charity set up in memory of Daniel Popham, who lost his life to type one spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) at just nine weeks old. Daniel's family have been close family friends of Samuel and he wanted to do his bit to support them and the sea pool. Daniel's Heroes supports Children's Hospice South West and Muscular Atrophy UK. Samuel has been backed by some very generous businesses in Bude, which have already helped him to raise over £4,000. He said: "Bude is such a lovely place to grow up and has such a great community spirit. People are so supportive and we are so grateful to everyone for this. We owe the whole town a huge thanks."
