Launceston seconds beat Devonport Services at Polson

Saturday,?September 8

Launceston 24

Devonport Services 15

AFTER Bude seconds failed to fulfil their Duchy League Cup tie for the second week in a row, Launceston welcomed Devonport Services seconds to Polson Bridge and prevailed 24-15 in a tough contest.

The first-half saw Launceston make plenty of use of their possession to go in with a 17-10 lead at half-time.

Full-back Richard Jasper gave the All Blacks the lead after five minutes following a strong run before scrum-half Dom Mulberry made it 12-0 on the 20 minute mark.

The Services’ second-string fought back well to reduce the arrears to two before number Pete Bebbington scored the third home try.

After the break, replacement Eoin Baker made it 24-10 before a late comeback from the visitors ended in another try.

However, resolute home defending meant they held on for the victory.

They’re next in action on Saturday when they welcome Saltash seconds in the semi-final of the Duchy League Cup. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
