Launceston 2nd XV 34

Bodmin 1st XV 12

AFTER a number of weeks with no game in Cornwall for Launceston seconds, the seconds got their season back up and running with a 34-12 victory over Bodmin firsts at Polson Bridge.

After a delayed start and the fact the game was going to be uncontested scrums, due to Bodmin not having an experienced front-row, the game kicked off.

Launceston made a slow start with a few errors occurring.

Bodmin were first on the scoreboard with a converted try after 13 minutes but it only took five minutes for Launceston to reply with an unconverted try by Charlie Hawken. Bodmin went back in front near half-time and led 12-5 at the break.

At the start of the second-half, Launceston made three changes with both centres coming off. With only two minutes gone, Harry Lightfoot dotted down to make it 12-10 and keep them just two points behind.

Launceston had finally seemed to have settled, and two more changes saw them bring back on their two centres, but one went to the wing and the other to flanker.

The last 20 minutes saw them score 24 unasnwered points.

Dave Parish went over in the 60th minute, which was converted by Ben Hawke.

Soon after, effective play by the backs culminated in Richard Jasper scoring in the corner.

Hawke missed the conversion, but six minutes later Harry Dawe picked up the ball just inside the Bodmin half and dodged the tacklers; scoring just to one-side of the posts and Hawke slotted the conversion taking the score to 27-12.

Bodmin came back at Launceston and were camped within ten metres of the Launceston line, but turnover ball was made and Ben Tharme took off down the pitch making 65 yards before be tackled. But the ball was put through the hands with Aiden Jacob going over to score try number six. With the last kick of the game, Ben Hawke converted to ensure a 34-12 win.
