Cornwall and Devon League

Bude RFC 61

Tavistock RFC 0

BUDE wreaked a terrible vengeance on early season conquerors Tavistock with a nine-try demolition job.

Eight tries were scored by their talented and speedy back division. Winger Ollie Denford scorched in for a hat-trick of tries, while centre Kyle Speare ran in two to take his tally for the last three matches to eight. Skilful centre Steve Yates crossed for one try and right winger Tim Green continued his good form by notching two.

The backs may have had all the glory but the platform was laid and the good ball supplied by the powerful and well drilled Bude forwards. Their fine efforts and dominance of the Tavistock eight were further rewarded by a push-over try attributed to number eight Joe Wilson.

Full back Dan Pearce had a field day with his right boot successfully converting eight of the nine tries.

This bonus point victory consolidated Bude’s position at the top of the table but they are well aware that there are some difficult games ahead.

It should be another convincing victory this Saturday however as Bude travel to bottom-side Newquay Hornets, who have won just one of their 15 league outings.

If last Saturday’s mauling of Tavistock is anything to go by, there could be a stampede on it’s way to Newquay and there will have to be an extremely tough defence put up to keep out their hungry visitors.
