LAUNCESTON competed in the inaugural Papa Johns Community Cup Regional One Shield final at Sixways Stadium in Worcester on Saturday and it features heavily in this week’s Post.

The game itself was a remarkable contest that produced 102 points, 15 tries and plenty of talking points.

The Cornishmen raced into a 12-0 lead inside 13 minutes, but Wirral, led by their superb backs, scored five tries by the break to go in ahead at 33-19.

Wirral continued to score almost every time they got the ball, and although Launceston produced a couple of late tries to ensure the margin of defeat was just eight, the Merseysiders ran out winners.

See this week’s Post for a full report from the game as well as reaction from Launceston joint head coach Ian Goldsmith who admitted Wirral were deserving champions.
