LAUNCESTON Ladies’ maiden season in Women’s Championship South West 2 has gone relatively well so far as they sit in mid-table.
Last Sunday’s postponement with Cullompton means the Cabettes haven’t played since a 55-12 defeat at unbeaten leaders Ivybridge back on December 13, and they face the long trip to Surrey to tackle Guildford Gazelles (2pm), a side who won 31-24 in North Cornwall back in October.
There is just one change to the Launceston starting XV from their trip to Ivybridge as full-back Abby Matthews is selected in place of Joey Bartlett who isn’t part of the 22-player squad.
There are returns on the bench for forward Charlotte Belsey, back-rower Briony Eddy and back Ellen Armstrong as they go to a Guildford side who have wins from eight outings.
Launceston have won one of their four away games so far and are back at home next Saturday when they host Cheltenham Tigers Seconds.
LAUNCESTON LADIES: Abby Matthews; Grace Tucker, Meg Tucker, Abbie Smith, Suz Franks; Rachel Hicks, Amy Warman; Libbie Cole, Jenna Arnold, Kim Upcott (capt); Meg Arnold, Rhian Thomas; Jess Harrison, Caitlin Hancock, Alex Hutchings. Replacements: Poppy Karkeek, Ann-Marie Risdon, Charlotte Belsey, Briony Eddy, Ellen Armstrong, Poppy Speare, Madi Vine.
