Women’s South West South Two (Two)
Bude Ladies 72
Devonport Services Ladies 0
FULL-BACK Frankie Perry scored five times as Bude did the double over Devonport Services by thrashing the Plymouth-based club at Bencoolen Meadow.
Despite winning 38-8 against their opponents three weeks earlier, Bude started nervously at with both sides happy to play in the middle of the park neither willing to retreat.
After a couple of well-worked home moves were repelled, they eventually took the lead when Perry found a gap on the far side to touch down.
Despite having plenty of time with the ball, the home rush defence was firing on all cylinders, pushing any Devonport attack backwards while patiently waiting for handling errors and penalties to come.
They followed this by utilising set moves and keeping their patterns tight.
The scoreboard never had time to settle, with the set-piece at scrum and lineout working well. In the end, Bude scored 12 tries, six of which were converted by Lisa Honey.
Devonport had no answers to a very polished Bude performance. Despite trying their hardest, they suffered a number of injuries which meant that Ema Glaze had to play 60 minutes for the visitors, while a couple of others also had to spend time playing for them.
