THERE might only be two fixtures involving Post area clubs this weekend, but there is plenty to play for.

While most sides have the weekend off in preparation for the final four games of the season, Bude have a golden chance to pull clear of second bottom Bideford in the battle to avoid relegation from Counties One Western West.

The Seasiders are due to travel to out of form Tavistock (2.30pm) after last week’s clash at Sandy Park was called off.

Tavi have a long injury list, particularly in the pack, and Bude will hope to take advantage.

They currently sit level on points with second bottom Bideford with two likely to go down, and with Bideford hosting fourth bottom Wiveliscombe who are just five points ahead next weekend, a win for Joe Wilson’s side is important.

Bude’s record on the road this term hasn’t been great, they have only won at bottom side Falmouth, but will quietly fancy their chances.

The club’s ladies team are due to be in action on Sunday when they welcome local rivals Launceston to Bencoolen Meadow.

While Bude are set to finish in mid-table of Women’s NC 2 South West (West), Launceston are romping towards the title with nine wins from as many games, and with no points dropped.

Bude did get a morale-boosting 50-5 success at Totnes 12 days ago, and will hope to make life difficult against their North Cornwall rivals.
