Looe Sailing Club

At last the right weather conditions fell on the right day for the staging of the club's Round the Island Race – the previous two having been cancelled.

An excellent fleet of 34 dinghies assembled on the line for the mass start, going outside the Cardinal buoy down to the far end of the island, over towards Portnadler and then through the channel to another buoy before heading back to the start and finish line. The senior fleet went round twice and the junior Mirror fleet once, the winner being decided on class handicap.

The race also counted for the Burt and Audrey Stevens Cup which is competed for by the Mirror fleet.

Overall winner was Shytalk, the Redwing of Dave Jackman and John Crabb, second the Redwing of Colin Crabb and Tristram Wearing with the Laser of Simon Bennett in third.

The Burt and Audrey Stevens Cup went to Ollie and Archie Hawkins. The presentations were made by Commodore Rob Dewe in the clubhouse afterwards.
