BUDE Pilot Gig Club's excellent start to the season is continuing apace. Not only did members enjoy fantastic results in the Pilot Gig Rowing World Championships on the Isles of Scillies, but their good fortune also extended to the first regatta of the season. The club took 20 personnel — involving six of the under 14s crew — to Zennors Regatta. It was a well-attended event, with 18 teams competing from all over Devon and Cornwall, including local rivals and friends Appledore and Port Isaac. The superb weather made for a great day of gig rowing, and although it was Zennor's regatta, the racing took place at Sandy Cove, Newly, which although should be sandy, it is actually a pebble beach.
