BUDE RATS took a team of 15 runners to Bideford for the towns ‘ten miler’ at the beginning of the month, organised by the towns AAC.

Some of the RATS were representing the club for the first time, following a recent influx of members taking part in the club’s starter groups along with some more experienced members of the club.

Conditions were perfect as the RATS took their places in a field of nearly 300 runners from all over the south west.

The race is an ’out and back style’ run heading out on the road to Instow and beyond then turning back towards Bideford via the Tarka trail.

A fast and relatively flat course gave the opportunity to post some great performances for the club. Kelvin Moyse led the RATS in, after training with the club for the last 12 months Kelvin managed to knock five minutes off of his last year’s time. Elly Harwood, who has come through the ranks at the club after taking part in one of the ’absolute beginner’ running courses in 2014 managed to claim a top ten category finish in her class as she continues to improve with each race.

All the RATs completed the course in what was a great day for the club.
