FOUR teams representing Bude RATS made the journey to Tavistock last week for the annual Tavy Town Relay. The event comprises each of the teams' four runners completing a 1.1 mile circuit lap around the town before handing the baton on to a teammate. As always, the competition, organised by Tavistock AAC, proved massively popular, attracting over 80 teams from clubs all over the South West. Bude RATS put together three men's teams — one senior and two veteran — and one ladies' team, with all members running strongly and no batons being dropped. Taking into account the quality of the clubs in attendance, many of which were much larger than Bude's, members were delighted to finish fifth in both the veteran men's and women's categories, while an outstanding run from Peter Davenport enabled him to clock the third fastest overall time — out of 300 participants — with a four minute, 57 second stint.
