Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club race — May 31
Sailboat 7
STRONG winds were blowing straight down the Lake and there were more sailors standing on the shore than the five intrepids who took to the water, mostly in boats with small or reefed sails.
James Pollard crossed the line first with Adam Hilton, Vicki Duncalf, Nathan Pollard and Jane Anderson following. On the second lap James went the wrong side of a buoy and had to go back. On the third he capsized but recovered still without losing his lead. Jane Anderson after her unpromising start was catching Adam and took over second place when he realised he'd been going the wrong side of Pinkie each time and retired.
Poor Vicki Duncalf had a stubbornly unrighteable capsize so in the end there were only three finishers.
1. J Pollard (Laser 4.7)
2. J Anderson(Topper)
3. N Pollard (Topper)
A Hilton (Solo), V Duncalf (Topper) retired.
Pursuit 2
WITH the wind continuing to freshen there was little enthusiasm for more sailing and the race was cancelled.
Thanks were given to Officers of the Day Sue Murray and John Savage.
