Launceston and District Darts League 2018/19 sponsored by the White Hart Hotel — latest news
THE semi-finals of the Open Division One Knockout Cup and Supplementary Shield competitions were held at the White Hart Hotel on Monday, February 18.
In the end it was the league’s top two — Countryman B and Old Rattlers — who reached the Knockout Cup final although they did in very different circumstances.
While leaders Countryman B eased past Wanderers 6-1, Old Rattlers faced off against Archers Arms A.
Both sides are currently level on points in the league and after ten ends couldn’t be separated at 5-5 after a thrilling Archers comeback from 5-2 down.
However, Old Rattlers’ Anna Johnson held her nerve to secure her side a place in the final.
It was a similar case in the Supplementary Shield which four of the bottom five face off.
Tribull eased past Westgate 6-2 but on the next board across, Pint and Post and Archers Arms B traded blows in a low-quality contest to make it 5-5. However Pint and Post’s Mike Hillman held his nerve to beat Shane Marshall 2-0 and send the St Giles-on-the-Heath-based through.
Both finals will take place in the White Hart on Monday, March 4.
Notable Achievements
Roger Gerry (Old Rattlers) — 105 finish; Roland Carpenter (Pint and Post) — 180
The semi-finals of the Ladies Division Knockout Cup were also held at the White Hart last week, this time on Thursday.
Two of the top three — leaders Castaways and Countryman Ladies — both made it through after 4-1 wins over Fillies and Wanderettes respectively.
Castaways’ Hayley Brant hit a 26-dart leg.
Last week also three rearranged matches from the Ladies Division. Tuesday night saw B’s & D’s edge past Eliot Ladies 4-3 who were in action at Westgate Maids 48 hours later.
However this time they were well beaten by six games to one.
On Sunday night, the top two clashed as Castaways took on B’s & D’s. But the leaders cruised to a 6-1 win and extended their lead at the top to 12 points.
