FOLLOWING a very welcome buffet lunch, the Holsworthy Golf Club Vets' Section staged its annual general meeting last week.

The retiring captain Brian Gliddon paid his thanks and respects to all those who had supported him throughout the year and wished his successor every good wish.

The customary agenda resulted in various questions being asked and satisfactory replies given. The current secretary outlined a statement of position regarding handicaps and the section arrangements for adjusted handiccaps and the sequence of qualifiers, etc.

The meeting indicated its preference to continue its current practices.

One proposal submitted stated that 'with effect from the vets' AGM, the vets' section Thursday competitions be restricted to male vets only'.

Following discussion and various viewpoints, the meeting voted overwhelmingly to support the proposal.

The newly-elected vets captain Brian Beadle set out the visions that he, his vice-captain and the committee held for the forthcoming year. Coupled with the obvious improvements being made to the course via management, it was hoped the section would enjoy a successful year in all competitions.

He reiterated that any of the committee were open to receive constructive comment from any member.
