Bude Hockey Club’s senior teams had a mixed weekend in the West Hockey League.

On Saturday, the men visited Plymouth University Seconds and came away with a 5-1 victory to move back up to second in Men’s Piran Division One, while on Sunday morning, it was a tougher assignment for the ladies as they visited Falmouth in Women’s Division Two South.

With an 11am kick-off and just 12 players at Penryn Community College, they battled well for long spells before slipping to a 4-0 defeat.

Both sides are back in action this weekend at home with the men hosting third-placed Camborne School of Mines (12.30pm) in a crucial contest in the battle for the runners-up slot, while the ladies host table-topping Isca and University of Exeter Fifths (2pm).
