A LAUNCESTON athlete has been inspired to go for gold after completing a triathlon at the Olympic rowing site.

Merwyn Davis, who runs Crunch Gym with her fiancé Mark Quick, came 30th out of 100 with a time of 1hour 31minutes, despite the fact it was only her second triathlon and came just weeks after her first.

Miss Davis, 34, tackled the Shock Absorber Women-Only Triathlon at Dorney Lake in Buckinghamshire, enduring a 44-metre open water swim, a 22-kilometre bike ride and five-kilometre run.
