HOLSWORTHY have bolstered their squad for the SWPL Premier East run-in with the signing of three new players.

Midfielder Cameron Heard is joining from St Piran League East outfit Altarnun while George Richardson and Michael Parker have arrived from Eastside (North Devon League) and Sherborne Town (Western League) respectively.

Joint boss Ryan Hall told the Post: “We have signed Cameron Heard from Altarnun, who misses Saturday due to being away skiing.

“We have also signed George Richardson, a striker from Eastside, Michael Parker, a goalkeeper from Sherborne Town, and have another couple of options coming to training tonight (Wednesday).

“We are looking to strengthen and don’t have much time, so we’ve needed to move quickly with these!”

Holsworthy were left frustrated on Saturday as their clash with high-flying Brixham was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, a situation that was unavoidable.

Hall said: “We tried really hard to get the game on, the last thing you need is a backlog of fixtures towards the end of the season.

“A frustrating one for Brixham I am sure, but we’d had far too much rain in the week and with the weather due to be getting worse during the day, it would have meant the only thing we could do was postpone the game.”

Attention has quickly turned to Saturday’s home clash with Elburton Villa who, like the Magpies, have had a tough campaign.

Hall said: “Elburton is a proverbial six-pointer, it’s getting tighter and tighter at the bottom and we need to start picking up points.

“As much as we say we don’t deserve to be down there, we need to show it, otherwise we’re going to be in a bit of trouble.

“They’re a tough, physical side, who have made some good signings over recent weeks. We should have a fairly clean bill of health for the game, and we’re looking forward to it!”

Holsworthy are then back in action next Tuesday night when they visit league leaders  Crediton United, a game Hall knows will be difficult.

He said: “Crediton is a free hit. They’re a very young, footballing side and when we played them at home, they were the best side we had played all season.

“It’s going to be a tough game, but we need to do everything we can to try and cause an upset. There are plenty of points left to fight for and we are going to be making every last game a cup final.”
