ON Tuesday, January 27 Year 8 played their quarter-final of the county cup at home against Churston Grammar School, write Luke Barnes and Josh Parry.

The first half was even although Holsworthy had better chances, but did not manage to convert these into goals and the half time score was 0-0.

After a fantastic team talk from Mr Vanstone, Holsworthy started the second half in fine form, playing their usual passing game, but Churston got lucky and scored with their first shot on goal with a long range effort.

Then five minutes later Lewis Haxell played a defence-splitting pass, which Josh Parry neatly dribbled through and competently finished, making the score 1-1.

Midway through the second half a handball in the box from Churston resulted in a penalty for Holsworthy.

Lewis Haxell took the penalty, but the keeper went the right way and made a great save.

From the rebound George Grigg volleyed the ball into the top corner giving the Churston keeper no chance.
