THE mild climate in Launceston turned increasingly arctic as the Launceston Road Runners reached the heights of Dartmoor for this years’ Tavy 7 race on Sunday, October 23.

After leaving it to the last possible minute to remove hats, scarfs and hoodies; 461 runners set off on an off road start for this picturesque seven-mile race.

The route took in country lanes around Pew Tor and Sampford Spinney, although the strong winds on much of the course prevented the runners from admiring the views for too long.

There were some brilliant results from the club with Oliver Gynn finishing fourth overall and third in the male category, while Trevor Gynn and Janet Lathom also picked up awards in their age groups.

Full results:

Oliver Gynn – 41 minutes and 54 seconds; Trevor Gynn – 49.44; Andy Parker – 56.49; Julie Barriball – 1 hour exactly; Martin Venning – 1.03; Sarah Swift – 1.03; Janet Lathom – 1.05; John; Mason – 1.13; Nicola Emmet – 1.13; Maggie Dickinson – 1.18
