LAUNCESTON?RFC?Under 14s can consider themselves unlucky to have missed out against rivals Truro in their season opener at Polson, after a committed and impressive performance. Thankfully the thick layer of fog that had greeted everyone on arrival had lifted by kick-off, and the sunshine broke through. Captain Charlie Crichton led out a Launceston side which looked determined to win the game, with previous encounters between these two teams always ending in a close result. It was clear this was going to be another tight one from the start — both teams battled hard in the first period, with play taking place across the whole pitch. The two forward packs got stuck in, with mauls and rucks producing good recycling of the ball and presenting the backs with chances to break through.
