BUDE?Bowling Club Ladies will compete in the Top Team County Semi-Final on Monday (15), having overcome Kensey Vale in the group final of the competition. Played at Wadebridge, a tense but enjoyable afternoon was had by all. The two wood singles was the first game to finish, with Ann Reece-Pinchin narrowly losing 13-15. Teresa Tibbetts evened up the score with a good win, 21-11, in the four wood singles. The pair of Alwyn Riley and Sue Plumstead went into the last end of their game all square, but Sue managed to snatch a 16-16 victory. With the score standing at 2-1 to Bude, all eyes were on the triples and fours teams, who were both leading their games. The triples team of Tricia Dixon, Dorothy Gardiner and Cynthia May finished first, winning 20-9 to clinch an overall Bude win. The foursome of Beryl Vickery, Janet Hiller, Anne Butler and Fran Goldthorp added emphasis to Bude's win, with their match ending 15-9 in their favour. Bude's captain Sue Plumstead received the group trophy from chair Wendy Trenchard. Their semi-final will be played on Monday at Chacewater.
