THE culmination of Bude Squash Club’s annual club championships were held on Sunday, April 7 with the main trophy and Plate on offer.

The Plate was contested by Joe Caslake and Roger Marks, with Marks winning three games to nil.

The main attraction was the reigning champion Tremaine Fry take on the new kid on the block, Fin Irish.

Irish took the first game, Fry the next two and then Irish made it two all, meaning they needed a decider.

Fry took an early lead but Irish came back and it was finely balanced at 13-13 in sudden-death. However, Irish kept his cool to win the next two points and become Bude’s champion.

Club spokesperson, Nick Gleed, said: “All the games were close with the squash being fantastic to watch.”
