WITH the South West Peninsula League getting underway this week, it’s previews aplenty in the sport section of this week’s Post Series.

We hear from Bude Town joint manager Josh Allen, new Launceston boss Neil Price and Camelford’s long-serving supremo Reg Hambly as they prepare for the start of the Premier West campaign.

All three sides are in action this weekend with newly-promoted Bude hosting Newquay, while Launceston and the Camels are on their travels to Godolphin Atlantic and Mullion respectively.

Across the border in Devon, Holsworthy will look to push on after an encouraging season in SWPL Premier East.

The Magpies have had a decent summer and we hear from joint boss Ryan Hall on their prospects.

St Piran League East also gets underway on Saturday with three fixtures.

One of those is at Altarnun as the newly-promoted hosts welcome Saltash United. Inside are the thoughts of skipper Sam Wade ahead of the big kick-off.

Launceston Rugby Club’s season starts in just over four weeks when they visit Camborne. The All Blacks have their first pre-season run-out this Saturday when they welcome Barnstaple and Maidenhead to Polson Bridge for a triple-header.

We chat to joint boss Ian Goldsmith to find out the latest.

Cricket wise there’s the usual round-up, tables and reports including matches involving Bude, Callington, Tintagel and Werrington plus reaction from captains Warren Rumble (Bude), Aiden Gerry (Holsworthy), Tintagel (Ryan Pooley) and Werrington (Nick Lawson).

There’s also the latest from Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club and the local bowling clubs as the bowls season starts to draw to a close.
