ALTHOUGH no football was played at the weekend as a mark of respect following the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II, all other sport did go ahead.

In the local rugby, Launceston picked up their first win of the season in Regional One South West with a 36-22 victory over Old Centralians.

Inside is a match report and pictures while there’s also reaction from joint head coach, Ian Goldsmith.

Read about Launceston Castles’ close contest at Wadebridge Seconds in Counties Cornwall Three, while in the same league, Bude Seconds’ home game with Camelford was postponed at the request of the visitors.

In Counties One Western West, Bude lost 21-10 at Paignton with a report inside.

The final day of the Cornwall Cricket League season saw good news for both Callington and Werrington as they both survived on the final day in the ECB Cornwall Premier League, as did Bude in Division Two East.

There’s match reports from Callington’s trip to Camborne and Werrington’s visit to Redruth, as well as reaction from Werrington skipper Nick Lawson as they continue their superb record of being in the top-flight since 2004.

There’s also a round-up from County One down to Division Five East.

Away from that, there’s reports from last week’s midweek football action including Bude Town’s defeat at Torridgeside in the SWPL League Cup and from Dave Potham looking at the St Piran League.

There’s also news of Bude Bowling Club’s finals day weekend and a charity challenge at Holsworthy Bowling Club, plus much more.
