PETERSFIELD Town clinched the Wessex League Premier Division crown with a narrow victory over Lymington Town on a tense day at Love Lane on Saturday.
It was a nail-biting wait for a season's best crowd of 230 as the Rams took almost an hour to break down the stubborn New Forest side.
Lewis Hyde finally did the trick with a diving header from a corner to spark wild celebrations from players and staff.
"This was the best day of my management career," said Ian Saunders, who confirmed that he would be staying at Love Lane next season when Petersfield will be competing in either the Ryman Isthmian League or the Evo-Stik Southern League.
